Terms of Service
These terms explain what you can expect from Journey Maps, and what we expect from you. We've written them in plain English on purpose — if anything here is unclear, just ask.
1. What Journey Maps is
Journey Maps is a web-based tool for creating customer journey maps. You can create journeys, organise them into phases and steps, record emotions and pain points, export your work as a PDF, and share read-only links.
The service is free to use. There is no paid tier, no trial that expires, and we will not ask you for a credit card. We may add paid features in the future, but anything you can do today will not suddenly sit behind a paywall without notice.
2. Your account
You sign in with a magic link sent to your email address — there is no password to manage. You are responsible for keeping access to that email account secure, since anyone who can read your email can sign in as you.
You need to be old enough to enter a contract in your country to use Journey Maps. If you are using it on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for them.
3. Acceptable use
Please don't use Journey Maps to:
- Break the law, or store content that is illegal where you or we operate.
- Upload content that is harassing, hateful, threatening, or that sexualises minors.
- Infringe someone else's copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights.
- Attack the service — no attempts to break in, scrape at scale, overload our servers, or probe for vulnerabilities without permission.
- Resell or rebrand the service as your own, or use it to build a directly competing product.
- Store sensitive personal data you have no right to hold.
If you break these rules, we may suspend or remove your account. For anything serious or clearly illegal, we may act immediately and without warning.
4. Who owns what
You own your content. The journey maps you create, the text you write, and anything else you put into the tool remain yours. We don't claim ownership of it and we don't sell it.
You give us only the narrow permission we need to actually run the service — to store your content, back it up, display it back to you, and serve it to anyone you deliberately share a read-only link with. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.
We own the tool. The Journey Maps software, name, logo, and design stay ours. Using the service doesn't transfer any of that to you.
5. Shared links
When you create a share link, anyone who has that link can view that journey map without signing in. Treat share links as public: don't put anything in a shared map that you wouldn't want a stranger to read.
6. Service availability — no warranties
Journey Maps is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We don't promise the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your particular needs.
This is a free tool run by a small operation. We may change features, take the service down for maintenance, or discontinue it entirely. If we ever plan to shut it down, we'll give you reasonable notice and a way to export your data first.
Please keep your own copies of anything important.Export the PDFs of maps you can't afford to lose. We take reasonable care with backups, but we are not a backup service.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Journey Maps and the person who runs it are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages — including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption — arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service.
Because Journey Maps is free, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you have paid us, which is zero.
Some countries don't allow certain warranty or liability exclusions. If you live somewhere like that, the exclusions above apply only as far as your local law permits, and nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer.
8. Ending things
You can stop using Journey Maps whenever you like, and you can delete your account and its data at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms, or if we have to shut the service down.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes. When we do, we'll update the “last updated” date at the top of this page. For changes that meaningfully affect your rights, we'll try to give you notice by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Journey Maps after a change means you accept the updated terms.
